Receiving a clinical diagnosis of an inherited retinal dystrophy, or IRD, such as
retinitis pigmentosa, Usher syndrome, or Stargardt disease can be a complete whirlwind.
And, as your loved one is newly diagnosed, you may have a lot of questions.
We hope to provide you with some answers and make the process of learning
about IRDs as easy as possible. Remember, a diagnosis may be challenging,but it can
also bring people closer together. It’s all about taking small steps towards a better understanding
of each other’s needs, and making adjustments over time to help life run smoothly.
